Time is running out for us to avoid a climate catastrophe, and we believe that young African voices have an essential role to play in the future of our planet. ✊

The nations of the world have gathered in Glasgow, Scotland for COP26 to accelerate action towards tackling climate change, but young climate activist Greta Thunberg warns that change won’t come from these conferences unless there is big public pressure from the outside.

For the last three years, in partnership with the KR Foundation, the Children’s Radio Foundation has been enabling youth radio dialogues on climate change and sustainable livelihoods across South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ivory Coast. The primary objective of the initiative was for these youth radio dialogues to cover the multiple dimensions of climate change and consumer practices. Through these transformational dialogues, the overarching aim of the project was the creation of platforms for active citizenship and low-impact living in the communities that we work in.
